If you’re experiencing financial difficulty, you’re not alone — and help is available. The most important step is to reach out early.
Talk to us first
If you’re an NFIS client and you’re struggling with your repayments, please contact James on 0405 069 441 or james.galliers@nfis.net.au as early as possible. The earlier we know, the more options we can explore with your lender.
Your lender’s hardship team
Every lender has a dedicated financial hardship team. They can discuss options such as a temporary repayment pause, extending your loan term, or interest-only periods. You have a right to ask for a hardship variation.
Free independent help
The National Debt Helpline (1800 007 007) provides free, independent financial counselling. The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) can help if you have a complaint that can’t be resolved with your lender.
